September sighs...

Although I took these at the end of August. I count them as my semi fall pics. This of course is a walk to my corner store on Bluebonnet. I did not add any pics of that store, because that would have made too much sense. Well, at least I finally got around to putting them on the net. Here ya go folk. Yup, thats right, "folk," not folks.

Cheers-

Dissapointment does not come easy. Posted by Picasa

Serenity

Wow. Well, what to say. I must start off by saying this review of the movie will have spoilers for those who have not seen it. Not that it really matters, there are only like two people who ever check in on this thing anyway. But if you are one of those two, and have not seen the movie, I suggest you stop right here.

So yah. Wash dies. Oh, and so does Book. Ahh... I am a mixture of wrath and depression. I never really liked Wash's character. It was only when I saw him do his little dinosaur thing in the extra contents of the DVD did I really start to like the guy. He was funny. Hell, he was the voice of the robot in IRobot with Will Smith. He was some of the comedic glue that held that Firefly and all its crew together. And now, hes gone. A huge fucking spike sticking out of his chest.

And Book. Well I liked him well enough, but didnt really give a rats ass about his death. I feel like it was a total cop-out. Joss had some history with that guy I know he really wanted people to know about. And if it went back on the air eventually I am confident we all would have known. My theory was that he was a soldier that loved a woman and then she got killed. This of course made him turn to God and become a sheppard. I could be wrong, but that would explain in part his knowledge of so many things military.

But Wash! I guess that guy really grew on me. It just pisses me off that Wheadon turned back to that part of his playbook. The only part of his brilliant playbook I hate. Which is "people you love die" "look! look at how real I am making this by making people die!" "look at the pain I can cause! the harsh reality!" 'LOOK AT WHAT I CAN DO!" Ahh fuck that. I was hoping the crew could stay together for a while longer. Book, i understand. He was old. Hell, he looked terrible. "So skinny," kelly told me while we were walking back to the car. But i wish he hadnt killed off Wash. I mean you just dont do that! He was a good person. A caring person. It immediately turned the movie sour for me.

It was a good movie overall. At the beginning I was more worried about the audience not getting it more than anything, but of course what was I thinking? They were all fans, just like me. Plus, Alamo never lets you down and they had the "making of" during the preshow warmup to help out anyone who might of needed it. Ahh I LOVE THE ALAMO DRAFTHOUSE! They even had some new menu items dedicated to some of the things they ate on the show during the season. I wanted the tomato and shrimp with rosemary plate. But i had just eaten, so I figured that I would get that tomorrow when I watched the movie again. Feh. But that was before I left the theater depressed and sad that Joss had to be Joss. Bugger his movie, and bugger the series. I am not going to watch it again. I know whats in it.

The thing that always brought me back to the DVD's (I watched them all three times apiece! Some episodes four or five times!) was the camaraderie and the way that cast worked it's magic. Now some of the magic is gone. I agree with what Tim Buckley of CAD had to say. It seemed a lot colder on that ship. Where was the lived in warm tones that we have all known and grown to love? It was as cold as the space that surrounded it.

Anyway, I feel sad. Joss is a brilliant guy, but his funny way of killing off major characters to rub in a sense of reality is such a turn off for me. But there's nothing I can do. Wow, i guess i really got used to that pilot that loved playing with the dinosaurs. Anyway, he can have his world. I liked that world, even got to live in it for a short while via imagination and dreams. Now it's broken. Heh, but you can never really leave serenity once you have found it right?

It was a fun ride. But all good things come to and end. Goodbye Wash. I dont know how he is going to ressurect the damn series now that he has killed off a few of the team. Perhaps it's his own way of sticking it to Fox. I am sure Fox will bring it back. But now I dont know. I think he made a major mistake. Who is going to be the new pilot? Is it going to be like a Harry Potter book where they get a new defense of the dark arts teacher every year? Too soon Joss. Too soon. You did it way too soon.

I guess, what i am really trying to say is... why does he vex us, in this time and age... Why does he do this, when we really need hero's. Wash was a good guy. The best guy. We needed him. I never really knew that until he was gone. Is gone. Damn it all to hell. Wheadon? What the FUCK are you thinking?

Sigh.. well at least there is one thing that will remain constant.

There's no place I can be, since I found Serenity.
